Break Free From the Tyranny of Evite

One of the things the Internet is best for is getting people together. You can tell a ton of people to do a certain thing in a certain place at a certain time, getting the information out quickly and easily.

Some options are better than others, though. Like Evite, for instance. Evite is awful. Somehow it became the most-used of the online invitation systems, despite being probably the worst one. It has a ton of ads, its interface is a mess, it’s just not good.

Here are two alternatives to Evite, both much more worth the use.

Anyvite

Anyvite is simply what Evite would be if Evite were better. It’s better from the very beginning- you go to the site, here, and click on “Get Started!” It couldn’t be easier. You create the event, and invite your friends. You can create a temporary account, for one event, or create a permanent one if you use the service often. You can track responses, get lists, everything Evite does. It’s much simpler, cleaner, more ad-free, and a much better alternative. Get started here.

Phonevite

Phonevite works much like Evite and Anyvite, except it’s designed to work entirely on your phone. You create a message, and send it to up to 25 people- the limit is a bummer, but not a big deal for most events. If you really need more, you can get a Premium account, but at $.05 per call, it adds up fast. They hear the pre-recorded message, and can actually RSVP right from their phone, with a Yes, No, or Maybe. If you’re on the go, and need to get a small group together quickly, Phonevite is definitely the way to go. You can also use it to schedule calls for reminders, date-enders, meeting excuses, anything you need. Check it out here.

Between these two, you should never have to use Evite again. Evite does what it needs to, but with too much going on. These are simple, easy alternatives (both free, I’ll add), and definitely worth using. Anyvite, in particular, has already become a staple of mine.
