Staying updated enough not to miss anything on Craigslist, eBay, YouTube, and Perez Hilton is a pretty serious undertaking.
To help you out, Yotify, a Google Alerts-like application, just launched a beta yesterday. What Yotify does is simple- send out “Scouts” to scour the Internet for content that interests you.
For example: let’s say you’re in the market for a new Mac laptop. You send scouts out to eBay and Craigslist, and Yotify tells you every time someone lists a Mac on either of those two sites. You don’t have to check them both every 10 minutes only to find out you missed one; it’s all put right in front of you.
You can use Yotify to get notices about new YouTube videos, USA Today articles, and a variety of other services from travel to shopping to recipes. If you’re looking for concerts coming into your area, set up an eBay scout for tickets. There are as many uses as you can come up with, and finding things is incredibly easy here. Setting up a scout takes a couple of minutes, but it’s well-worth it: it helps you narrow the results down by keyword and category, so you’re not flooded with information.
You can be as general or specific as you want, which is really useful. Whether you want a Sony Cybershot W-55, or just a digital camera, you can set up alerts however you want.
You can also share a Scout with someone else, which is great for when you’re looking for the same thing as someone else, and you can keep eyes out together.
If you want, you can get periodic emails of the findings of your Scouts. That seems to kill the whole advantage of finding out quickly, so I’d just stick with the web version, which is great in and of itself.
It’s definitely worth a look, even if you just want to know when you’re on Perez. Check it out here [via TechCrunch]
