Rustle Up 'Dem Flash Games

Rustle Up 'Dem Flash Games

October 26, 2008  |  Awesome Apps

As I mentioned on Friday (here), I’m constantly looking for better alternatives to Google. Google does a lot of things well, but we’re often stuck with it for its sub-par bits.

Game search is another one of Google’s shortcomings, and once again, I don’t care. I’ve found GameCurry.

GameCurry is a search engine for only one thing: flash games. Those in-browser, AddictingGames-style games that you waste so much time on can now be searched for from one place. GameCurry combines a search engine with a reviews feature, helping you figure out which games you want to play.

You search for a game or keyword, like “guitar hero” or “baseball.” GameCurry then returns all the results it finds in a nicely-organized, if a little busy, page. Mouse over a game thumbnail, and you can see the rating of the game, the site it comes from, and the name and category of the game.

Click on whatever game you want to play, and you’re taken to the game site. GameCurry opens a sidebar next to the game, allowing you to search again without going back, as well as review games and provide feedback on the site.

GameCurry is still very much in Beta, and has a number of bugs- importantly, many of the links don’t go anywhere. Much of my excitement about the site is based on the potential it has, and the sheer number of results it seems to find for just about anything.

Over time, as more people use it, GameCurry is only going to get better as bad games get weeded out, reviews come in, and the site continues to build functionality. Even right now, though, it’s still a great place to find fun flash games.

Start searching here.

By the way, best Flash game ever? Pinch Hitter. Want to play? Here.

@ShavenLunatic- I definitely agree. Submitting games would be a great call, and would let GameCurry figure out which games are any good. I'm hoping it gets great in the next few months. Thanks!
  • Would be nice if they listed none-flash games and also had a method of submitting games. I also hope they give out some info on the specifics of how they are generating the lists. But nice find, will be bookmarking this.

    Cheers :)
