13 Ways Kwiry Juices Up Your Texting

…Minus the ‘roid rage.

As long-time readers know, I can be counted on to always have my cell phone on me. Whether or not that’s healthy is another topic, but the only thing I’m just about guaranteed to be fewer than ten feet away from is my cell phone.

Because of that, I’m always looking for ways to be productive with my cell phone, to have it do tasks that I’d normally do at my computer- that way, I get things done at all the random times in the day when I’ve got nothing to do, and have my cell phone at hand.

I suspect I’m not the only one like that, so I submit for your approval the hip new kid in the text-messaging world, Kwiry. Kwiry’s got a ton of useful features, but here are thirteen I’ve found myself using and abusing since I discovered Kwiry.

To Kwiry, send your text to K-W-I-R-Y (59479), and you’re done.

You set up your accounts when you first start with Kwiry, and then a simple text message does the rest. (To use these tips, just replace the long, rambling words with whatever you want).

Kwirying

1. Watch it! Text “tivo whatevershowyouabsolutelycan’tmiss” and let Kwiry talk to TiVo, to make sure you get your shows TiVo’d. No more missing shows, or Lifetime movies, or Home Shopping specials!

2. Where You At? Text “Status whatevertotallyspectacularthingyou’redoing”, and Kwiry will update one or both of your Twitter and Facebook statuses with whatever you texted.

3. Who Are You? One of my favorite applications, Dropcard, lets you text “drop someone’semail@theiremail.com” and it would email them your contact info. Kwiry does it much the same- text “contact jimbobjoe@gmail.com” and Kwiry will send your contact information to that email address. It’s like a business card, only better!

4. Do This NOW! Text “task dothis 1/21 6am” and it will be added to your calendar with the text, due date, and time (if you choose) that you gave it. Great for the GTDers trying to put things into their calendars quickly and easily.

5. Order It! Text “Netflix supercoolmovietitle” and Kwiry will automatically add the selected movie to your Netflix queue.

6. Buy it! Text “Amazon whateverproductIreallywantobuy” and Kwiry will send the Amazon search results right into your email inbox.

7. Search it! Text “whateveryoucouldpossiblythinkof” and Kwiry will return search results right to your inbox. Want to look something up? Text it to Kwiry, and it’ll return the results.

8. Shoot it! Take a picture on your camera, and MMS ist to save@kwiry.com. Your picture’s uploaded, saved, and ready for you to deal with.

9. Do It All! Text “list firstthingIthinkof, secondthing, thirdthing” and so on, and Kwiry will create Kwirys for each individual one. Just make sure they’re separated by commas.

10. Refreshers Gosh, what’s that Netflix shortcut again? No matter, just text “shortcut” and Kwiry will send you all the shortcuts available to you.

Using Your Kwirys

10. Facebook-friendly Kwiry uses Facebook Connect, which means you don’t have to remember a new username or password, or even create a new account. Just log in with your Facebook credentials, and go to town. You can also have Facebook friends be your Kwiry friends, and get all your profile info from Facebook.

11. Mobile Viewing By pointing your phone’s browser to m.kwiry.com, or your iPhone to www.kwiry.com, you can find all of your Kwiry’s online and manage them there.

12. More Don’t always have your cell phone? Don’t even know what a cell phone is? All these features are accessible by email, Twitter, or Jott as well.  Make the subject line the text message content, and you’re good to go.

13. Do it Online Don’t like texting? You can manage all your kwirys straight from your browser.

What do you think? What cool things can you do with a text message?

I've been a fan of ChaCha for a long time, it's the best bet-winner EVER. I've grown to love KGBKGB too- http://www.kgbkgb.com/ If nothing else, they have GREAT commercials.
  • You should check out ChaCha.com, or try texting a question to CHACHA (242242). You get a human response within minutes. It's pretty cool!
