Motivate Thyself with Home-Grown Posters

March 2, 2009  |  Awesome Apps

factcheckinghd5 You’ve seen these motivational posters, right? Ones that say something like “Relax: It’s What Cats Do Best.” They’re often just hilarious captions for pictures, spoofing old ones that used to read “Focus: Approach every challenge with a level head and unwavering determination…all your horizons will be bright.”

If you’ve got a great picture that you’re looking to make into a motivational poster, check out Motivator.

Using Motivator is simple- just find a picture. You can use Flickr, Photobucket, or any other URL – or just upload one yourself. You can choose where the picture gets cropped to fit (a nice touch, and avoids getting your pictures chopped off). Pick an orientation, a border, and a color scheme.

Then comes the creative part: coming up with a title and the motivational text that go underneath the image. Once you’ve got those, just click “Create.”

Out of this short process comes a large image of your motivational poster. From the Motivator interface, you can save the poster to your computer, share it on social networks,, upload it to Flickr, go back to make edits, or create a hi-res version (this features requires a pro membership for $5 for a week).

If you’re lucky, maybe you’ll come up with something this good:

Motivational posters are great for a laugh, and more than a few Internet memes have been started by them.

Any favorites? Two of mine are the ones above. Make them, find them, share them in the comments!

  • I've made a couple of these myself using photosohp. This definitely streamlines the process. Great share, thanks a lot!
