It comes in a variety of manifestations: Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo, and PC. However the symptoms are all the same: unaccounted-for periods of time, unresponsiveness, and sensitivity to sunlight. Many of us these days are addicted to our games, but that addiction is threatened with a worsening economy and the need to live rather than thrive.

Fear not! We are here to give you the scoop on how to feed your gaming habits with minimal cash flow.

eStarland

Unintuitive name aside, eStarland is a great resource for anyone looking to come into some new games without dropping $50-60 a pop. eStarland both buys and sells games, featuring competitive prices in the used and new market. They even will give you credit for a trade-in instantly, so you can get your new (to you) titles on the way, as long as you secure it with a credit card.

CheapAssGamer

The name should give this one away. CheapAssGamer is a website dedicated to letting you know the best deals around on games, with a rip-roaring forum around gaming as well. This is one site to subscribe to for any gamer.

Half.com

Those of you who are newer to the online world might not remember half.com, which was purchased by eBay in 2000. It is a site that allows user to list items for sale at no initial cost, but the site takes a commission if the item is sold. You can only sell things that have some type of barcode or specific SKU, like video games, and a flat shipping rate is charged to buyers, part of which is refunded to the seller to help with shipping and packaging costs. Like eBay, you can find some real gems on here, but with far less drama.

Craigslist

Now you knew this one was going to be on here. And if you didn’t know about Craigslist, it’s time to open your eyes to a whole new world. Craigslist is of course the huge series of localized online communities built around free online classified advertisements. You can find almost anything you want on the Craigslist locality of your choice, including someone wanting an easy local sale or trade of the games they’re tired of. Try the CraigsList Reader tool for a more efficient way to search en masse.

Gift cards

Not just any gift cards, but buy gift cards from those looking to sell their own. Many people who receive a gift card and don’t care to shop at the particular store will sell them for a discount. Look in all the usual places like Craigslist, eBay, or the For Sale sections of online communities of your choice. To really get the best bang for your buck, look for gift cards to places that sell used games like Amazon and GameStop/EBGames.

Where do you buy your games?
