If a ceo (or top athlete or community leader) is willing to share, it let's me know she/he is willing to learn more about others. Same is true in reverse -- it can sometimes be difficult for the older crowd to connect with the up-and-coming wave, and Twitter allows you to connect via interest areas without regard to professional or social position (or perceived positions). “Twitter flattens the hierarchical pyramid.”

Opening up on social media platforms gives you control over what people see and hear about you online.
