In the past, when I liked something I would write the name of it down on a piece of paper. A movie, a book, a good bottle of wine – I didn’t want to forget the name or the reason I liked it so much.
Problem: I always lost the piece of paper I wrote it down on. Bigger problem: Who cared? The only person that was benefiting from that piece of paper was me, and I didn’t even have the will to keep track of it. Then I discovered Glue. Glue is the most useful online social network I’ve ever encountered.
What is Glue?

Glue, created by AdaptiveBlue, is a new social network that literally sticks with you while you’re surfing the web. Powered by semantic recognition, it enables you to connect with your friends on the web around the things you visit online. It automatically identifies books, music, movies, wines, stocks, movie stars, recording artists and more. The newest release of Glue is available today as a Firefox add-on. Here’s the intro video from their site:
Why I’m Addicted to Glue
Glue gives me a way remember what I liked and why, and it doesn’t stop there. It also helps me discover new favorites and tells me about things I have in common with my friends. With Glue, I can keep record of every movie, every album, every book I like and share them with all of my friends who have Glue, or anyone on Twitter, Tumblr, Friendfeed or Facebook.
Think of Glue as a complement to your other social networks. With just a few clicks you can integrate your Facebook and Twitter profiles, and connect with all your friends who also have Glue. Just think of the value here! Connecting with your friends around the things you like and have in common? No other social network lets us do this so seamlessly.
I had the opportunity to beta test the new release last week, and here’s my honest opinion:
Glue has features that will enhance your web browsing experience more than any other social network ever has. If you use it and your friends use it, your relationship can and will grow. This is great stuff that is changing the way we interact online for the better.
Here’s an example of a comment I made about the new Ben Kweller album. By clicking “Add your reply”, my friends can easily reply to my comment and share their opinion on the album.
The new release includes conversational features that will keep you interacting with friends non-stop and add a whole new level of value to your browsing experience. If you’re intrigued, go to GetGlue.com and install Glue on your browser.
Questions? Drop me a comment and I’m happy to help. It’s things like Glue that make the web more fun!
