The Best of What's Around: Becoming an Early Bird Edition

2548884788_72a23cd4f4 Every week, I share some of what I read that inspires me, even if I’m terrible at taking the advice.

One of the things I’m constantly trying to improve at is waking up early. I understand the benefits, I get how useful it could be to my productivity. At night. Then, in the morning, sleep wins. It’s a vicious cycle, really, constantly conspiring against me.

Here are some of the great articles that are helping me to become a morning person (or at least to wake up grumpy, but earlier):

How To Wake Up Early (this one’s a whole site full of great tips and products for making helping you become an early riser, and make the most out of the morning)

Dave Cheong – “Waking Up Early – 15 Tips That Work

Zen Habits – “10 Benefits of Rising Early, and How to Do It

Steve Pavlina – “How to Get Up Right Away When Your Alarm Goes Off

Lifehacker – “Wake Up Early With Ease” (Read the comments here, they’re great)

LifeSpy – “Student Guide: How to Wake Up Early

Gearfire – “Why You Should Wake Up Early and 5 Tips to Do So

The Change Blog – “Mind Over Mattress: How to Wake Up Early When All You Want to Do is Sleep

WikiHow – “How To Be a Morning Person

Tons of great advice – all I have to do is figure out how to take it, without being so darn tired all the time.

On a totally unrelated note, here’s a video about Web 2.0 I’ve been looking for an excuse to post here. This is as good a time as any, right? It’s old, but still rings incredibly true, and is a great way to think about the Web.

What’ve you read, watched, or seen this week that you liked?

  1. Want to know how to get up early? Get old. There's nothing “2.0″ about that.

  2. Is there anything in particular that is stopping you from getting up early? I wrote an article about getting up before your alarm goes off if you are interested.

  3. The problem I run into, I think, is just laziness. I wake up, decide that I don't really HAVE to do anything right this second, so I go back to sleep. I've found that if I really need to get up, that for the most part I do. I just want to figure out how to get out of bed when I don't absolutely need to. Thoughts?

  4. To be an early riser, one needs to be an early go-to-bedder. Now let's take a peek at the links to see if there are other things to learn.
