The Best of What's Around: Digital and Analog Edition

June 13, 2009  |  What's New Here

506265457_c5db7c51c3 The last couple of weeks have been just ridiculously full of posts about how media and technology affect our lives, and particularly how new media and old media mesh. Paper, notebooks, computers, pens, and thumb drives – how do they work together? Do they even work together? What’s a pen anyway?

The newspaper is still in crisis, and more and more people are turning to the Web for significant portions of their work and personal life. But there’s something to be said for the dying breeds.

Here are some of the most interesting takes I’ve read on how the digital and analog worlds collide, and why old and new media have much to learn from each other.

TechCrunch – "The Morality and Effectiveness of Process Journalism"

Dumb Little Man – "The Power of Paper For Everyday Life"

Mashable – "Everything I Need to Know About Twitter I Learned in J School"

The Art of Manliness – "30 Days to a Better Man-Day 8: Start a Journal"

Unclutterer – "Understanding How You Process Information to Help You Get Organized, Part I"

LifeDev – "8 Ways Reading Makes You Better at Life"

Copyblogger – "Five Lessons From Newspapers to Boost Your Blog’s Circulation"

And now, the grand finale: "Daily Show Rips the New York Times"

What’ve you read, watched, or seen this week that you liked?

I would love a Peek at the peek. Or visa versa.
  • Yeah... my bad on that one. Can't find the same video on YouTube though... I'll post if I find it!
  • Tut tut..... Imagine posting a Hulu clip knowing full well that those of us outside of North America can't see it! Customer service ain't what it used to be, let me tell you sunshine!!
  • I like your site! I think the links you have posted today are very useful. In fact, there is lots of great info on your site. Could not watch the entire video. Someone being rude does not amuse me. But I will be back.
