  • The thing is there might be security concerns with using free services for sharing your data, especially when you just want to share it with only a few people.

I think this why it's better to use a paid service for this, or maybe, if you're a big company, build or install your own document management application online.

As a Project Manager, I can say that document management is a big thing for Project Managers and should be present in any PM tool.
  • Nice to see a succinct summary of these tools. Slideshare is one of the best document sharing tools I've added to my arsenal. As a marketer and creative type, I rely on it to spark my imagination and for invaluable (secondary) research. Google Docs has proven invaluable within my immediate network of colleagues, too.

I am now following your feed on netvibes!
I am a Reference Librarian in a diverse, economically challenged community in Massachusetts. We have limited resources and a great need for computer access for our users. Our patrons frequently have to wait to use one of our PC’s. They are doing job searches, apartment hunting, writing resumes, taking online classes, getting citizenship info and communicating with family and friends all over the world.

This equipment will be used to supplement our limited equipment, and allow us to better serve our community.

What would you improve about a computer or Web application that you currently use?
I would improve MapQuest so it actually gets you to your destination not just close to it.

I would like to be able to search on a travel search engine selecting an airport code for RT departure with a date in mind but with no particular destination selected and find all available flights listed by price or alphabetical order that departs from that location on the date selected.

The idea is that if I have or will have several days off and want to take a trip.....and don't care where, as long as it is affordable, then I will be more likely to travel more often on getaways from my favorite airport.

Looks like some pretty good stuff here. Since you recommended Dropbox, I've fallen in love. It may be the greatest piece of software I've ever used. Awesome!
  • Thanks to both Srikanth and "The 2.0 Life" for mentioning ZOHO.

I started using Nomadesk for file sharing and backup. One of their big features is security which is important for me as I am sharing private documents. You can set up a file server and invite as many people as you want to access it. You can also send links to people who you just want to share single files. I travel a lot so a big advantage to me is the way Nomadesk is set up so I can work on the files when I'm offline and then it automatically syncs them when I connect.
  • You can also use our project collaboration tool, DeskAway. It has a free plan, that allows file sharing. www.deskaway.com
