Selling a House with Social Media

I was poking through the Twitter feed of Evan Kline (@40tech), and discovered the link to, of all things, his house. He’s designed a great-looking and useful site, all about the house he’s selling in York, PA.

It’s a great site, and got me thinking – particularly if you’ve got some social media clout, there’s really no limit to the cool things you can do. What if there was a way to crowdsource the selling of your house? Or to make your listing go viral?

Social media’s impact is going to be way bigger than most of us realize, and the speed and methods with which we interact are going to change a lot of things – including realty.

And, by the way, if you’re in the market for a house in York, give Evan a ring!

Thanks for the mention, David! I think the biggest thing I’ll run into with something like Twitter is that Twitter is global, and a house sale is local (unless an investor spots the good deal). I don’t have anyone local in my Twitter feed, for example. In some locations, though, or for folks who have a large local Twitter circle, this would be a great use of it.

That’s an interesting point, actually – the globalization of the Twitter and Facebook universe is awesome in some cases, and actually a pain in this one.Keep me posted on how it works – I’m so curious!
