Video Games: Better Than the Real Thing?

The NBA 2k12 trailer is out (weird that there are trailers for video games now, but whatever), and the game looks unbelievable. More accurately, it looks extremely believable. Check it out:
This comes a few days after Kotaku had a great story about FIFA 12, and its new “precision dribbling” feature. Both games look incredible, realistic, and insanely fun to play. You’ll be able to make players do exactly the things you’ve seen them do in real life (watch Dwayne Wade do a step-back jumper in the video, and watch it on TV during the Finals—it’s perfect).
Video games are in a great place, at a point where they’re essentially movies (hence the trailers) that you have complete control over. The graphics are unbelievably realistic, gameplay gets better and better—isn’t it going to get boring soon, watching the NBA when you’d rather be playing the game yourself?
